About Us

Trevor and June Franks emigrated to Madeira in 1989 from the UK after falling in love with it after previous holiday visits.

Trevor became fascinated with the levada system and started walking each and everyone before progressing on to mountains. He then encouraged June to start walking until the mutual love of the levadas and mountains rubbed off on her.

Trevor became a full time walking guide for 5 years for various companies, then went back to exploring the total island for himself

In the meantime they started taking guests at the house for bed and breakfast who were interested in a walking holiday in Madeira. Gave the business a name 'TJ Walking', taken from their initials of their Christian names.

The bed and breakfast business has flourished. People have found that they like the kind of hospitality that is offered, personal, friendly, with a homely atmosphere, plus getting to know the inside knowledge of the island and walks.

We forgot to mention that we have two cats Bluey and Ginger they run the house we only live there :-))
